1901: The federation of states to form The Commonwealth of Australia removes many of the trade barriers and tariffs between the States.
1901: Dalwood Estate sold by Wyndham to Mr Wilkinson of Coolalta: at the time this is one of the biggest producing vineyards in the colony.
1902: Audrey Wilkinson installs concrete fermenting vats at Oakdale, a new innovation in wine-making.
1903: Hunter Valley Distillery Company establishes a vineyard on Hermitage Road to produce spirits. This block is sold to Penfolds and eventually Tyrrells and is regarded as one of the best Semillon vineyards in the world.
1904: part of the Dalwood property sold to Frank Penfold Hyland.
1907: The still house distillery built at Ben Ean.
1908: Hunter Valley Distillery Company builds a distillery
at Allandale.
